Since I began breaking my wardrobe up into seasonal projects back in 2020, I’ve continued to learn so much. The process has been really beneficial for me as I hone in my personal style, intentionally learning what I love to wear and what I need for each season.
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve found that the major wardrobe turn-overs for me are spring and fall. Summer and winter are smaller add-ons to the prior season. So to see the full picture of what I’m wearing now, check out my fall wardrobe essentials in addition to my winter wardrobe essentials for 2022 that I’m sharing today! (a few of the items are so core to both that I repeated them)
Winter Wardrobe Essential Clothing 2022
Long Black Jacket (old from H&M – similar) | Long Camel Coat (I sized down one) | Black Turtleneck Sweater (old from ABLE – similar) | Cashmere Crewneck Sweater (gifted) | Oversized Cashmere Cardigan | Blazer (mine are all old and are all from H&M, I sized down one in all of them) | Moto Jacket (I sized up one so I could layer – tts for more of a fitted look, code MICHELLETOMCZAK15 for 15% off – similar for less (I own this is brown), similar for less) | Black Trousers (gifted – Kendal Pant – code MICHELLETOMCZAK for 15% off) | Hooded Sweatshirt (gifted, Jordyn in sand – code MICHELLETOMCZAK for 15% off) | Graphic Sweatshirt | Blue Jeans & Black Jeans (I sized down one size and they’re relaxed, size down two sizes for a fitted look)
CARDIGANS— a cozy top layer that is a fall item as well. In the winter months I get a lot of wear out of my cashmere and wool blend pieces.
BLAZERS— a three season item where I live. I personally have black, tan, and plaid as my staples colors.
LEATHER JACKETS— worn in the fall too over lighter weight shirts. In the winter I pair my moto jackets with a hooded sweatshirt or a sweater. I’ve purposely sized up in mine so I can layer under them and get more wear through more seasons.
LONG COATS— the evolution of my trench coat that I wear in the fall and spring months. In the winter I wear my long winter coats a lot, one quilted and casual and the other tailored and classic.
SWEATSHIRTS— a casual element that was also on my fall list. The two styles I’m wearing are crewneck graphic sweatshirts and plain hooded sweatshirts. I love layering sweatshirts under jackets.
SWEATERS— obviously also on my fall list. The styles I lean into more in the winter are made of cashmere and wool because they’re the warmest weaves I own. Also, I wear my turtleneck sweaters that are often too warm to wear in Nashville in the fall.
TROUSERS— I loved full-length trousers for fall and they can work for winter, but I stay away from them if we get snow that sticks (which happens usually only a couple times each winter), No one wants wet pant legs! I anticipate wearing the Kendal Pants (code MICHELLETOMCZAK for 15% off) the most as they are tapered, ankle length, and made of material that is warm.
JEANS— for the winter I focus on cuts that work the best with sneakers and boots. For me this is anything full or ankle length, which is most of my jeans. I don’t wear anything too cropped and I stay away from jeans with big holes on really cold days.
Winter Wardrobe Essential Shoes & Accessories 2022
White Sneakers | Sunglasses | Lug Sole Chelsea Boots (size up 1/2 – code MICHELLE_TOMCZAK25 for 25% off) | Gold Coin Necklace | Cashmere Scarf | Cashmere Lined Leather Gloves | Cashmere Beanie | Belt | Waterproof Heel Boots (gifted, size up 1/2 – code MICHELLE_TOMCZAK25% for 25% off) | Black Bag | Gold Hoops | Cashmere Socks | Woven Bag (gifted, code – MICHELLE_TOMCZAK25 for 25% off) | Gold Necklace | Waterproof Lug Boots (code – MICHELLE15 for 15% off your first order)
HATS— my winter favorite is a beanie for added interest, texture, and warmth to winter outfits.
SCARVES— for added warmth and a chic, neutral element in your winter outfits.
BAGS— my everyday bags are crossbody bags and I also love tote bags and belt bags. I mostly have a variety of neutrals but love a couple pops of color here and there.
SHOES— a powerful accessory that steers the feeling of every outfit. My favorites for this season are sneakers and all-weather/rain resistant boot styles.
JEWELRY— I prefer dainty, minimalist pieces for everyday wear. I wear gold hoops and layered gold necklaces.
BELTS— making outfits feel polished. I have a few neutral options that I wear when I’m looking to elevate an outfit— black is what I’ve been grabbing the most.
SOCKS— a cozy necessity that I wear daily in the winter. I select thicker socks and this warm, cashmere pair is on my wishlist.
SUNGLASSES— a throw-on-and-go chic accessory. Sunglasses are super practical but they also elevate outfits and give them a bit of an edge.
