White jeans are a new thing for me. In the past I stayed away from white pants and shorts for worry of getting them dirty and the possibility of them being see through. However, this summer I decided to give it a try and I added white denim shorts to my wardrobe.
The shorts I got are my favorite style from Agolde. The denim is slightly off-white, which I prefer, and they are made from thick— one hundred percent cotton, so my see through worry was solved. As I began making outfits with the white shorts, I was surprised at how much I ended up loving them!
Now that fall upon us, I decided to add white jeans to my wardrobe. The jeans I got are from Everlane, a different brand than my shorts, but like the shorts are made from thick, one hundred percent cotton denim in the color bone.
Should You Wear White After Labor Day?!?!
You may be wondering if you should wear white jeans after labor day— the answer is: if you like white denim then yes, yes, yes!
I am not for rules in fashion. You should get to be you and creatively express yourself in the way that you want. White looks so good mixed in with fall colors so if you like it you should mix it in!
The “no white after labor day rule” is an old one. People debate the original motivations of this rule, but agree that when labor day became an official holiday it marked the end of summer and the beginning of fall. People packed up their vacation clothing (i.e. breezy, white dresses), headed back to the city, pulled out their fall wardrobe (traditionally gray/black colored) and went back to work.
Times have changed and this old “rule” is disregarded by many people— count me in on that! Here are five different outfits ideas made with white jeans!
Outfit #1: Tank + Sandals + Sweater
Tank | Sweater (old – new version) | Jeans | Sandals (old – new version)
This is a perfect early fall transitional outfit. I love the taupe, white, and rust color combination. The sweater is adorable around the waist and easy to slip on if the weather cools down in the evening and you want to sip wine on your front porch.

Outfit #2: Crewneck Sweater + Flats
Sweater (old – new version) | Earrings | Jeans | Purse (old – similar from the same brand) | Shoes
Crewneck sweaters and sweatshirts have been go-to’s for me lately. I love this mossy green sweater paired with the white jeans. The neutral, subtle snake print flats adds the perfect touch of visual interest to this look. This is a great comfortable, casual outfit option for everyday activities!
Outfit #3: Short-Sleeved Button-Down Shirt + Denim Jacket + Loafers
Shirt | Bag (old – similar from the same brand) | Jeans | Loafers (old – new version) | Denim Jacket
This combination is another great summer to fall transitional outfit. The color palette is light, the shirt is cool and airy, you can layer on the denim jacket if you are chilly or tie it around your waist if you feel warm. This outfit feels put together but casual and easy, summery with a touch of fall, and great for everyday activities!
Outfit #4: Long-Sleeved Tee + Sweater Blazer + Oxfords
Long-Sleeved Tee | Sweater Blazer | Jeans | Shoes
This outfit feels the most work appropriate and tailored with the blazer and oxfords. I love the tan, black, and white neutral color combination for fall. This could be an everyday look, worn to a meeting, or out to lunch date!
Outfit #5: Graphic Tee + Denim Jacket + Sneakers
Graphic Tee | Denim Jacket | Earrings | Jeans | Sneakers
This last outfit is fun and laid-back. It’s the most playful and works perfectly as an everyday outfit. Denim jackets pair well with white and I love the contrast of the black and white sneakers with the white jeans.
