Sweater season is just around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited. Are you with me!? I have quite a few solid color sweaters in my wardrobe, so when I saw The Garden Lodge sweater from The GREAT., I was smitten. After building great staples pieces into my wardrobe, I’ve been turning my attention towards adding in more statement pieces that can be styled well with what I already own. This sweater is one of those pieces.

I love the aesthetic of The GREAT. I gravitate towards fashion brands from California as they often embody the casual, laid-back feel that I love so much. Having studied and worked in fashion in Southern California myself, it feels like a part of my roots and like a piece of home.

This sweater is not only pretty (hello garden motif), but it’s also cozy. It’s a 60/40 cotton acrylic blend. It’s soft and it holds it’s shape really nicely. I got my true size in this sweater and it fits great. I love the boyfriend inspired shape. The boxy silhouette and shawl collar pairs well with so many things. This sweater can easily be worn with pants or over a dress, as you will see in the outfits I’m sharing below.

In this first outfit, I paired up The Garden Lodge sweater with an outfit base that feels retro. I like how the graphic tee coordinates to the sweater but doesn’t match. All of the clothing pieces, but especially the 70s style jeans, feel like a throw-back but in a fresh, modern way. The bucket bag adds some style juxtaposition as it feels sleek, refined, and modern against the rest of the outfit’s elements that all read casual.

For the second look, I pulled a couple of colors from the sweater and added elements that pair back to them. The green sling bag and blue trousers coordinate well and the white in the tank and the sneakers pair up making the outfit feel balanced.

I love this third look. As you can see, the sweater layers well over a dress, adding in some interest. I chose warm, tailored accessories to elevate the look.

This outfit is great for everyday wear. The base is so simple— a white tank and jeans. The sneakers and sweater pair up nicely and add in a lot of interest between the floral motif and pop of green.

This outfit has a casual, oversized feel to it. I like the proportions created with the longer shirt and baggy, cuffed jeans. The sneakers add some whimsy which I enjoy, but you could easily swap for white sneakers or some kind of tan flat shoe if you’d prefer.

This last outfit is another easy, everyday look. I love wearing green, so pairing back green pants with the sweater felt like a no brainer to me. I added loafers and a handbag so this outfit could work for a casual work environment.
