The 70’s Trousers from Sézane are aptly named after the era that popularized this sailor style denim. There are specific clothing styles that really mark an era. Items will come and go in fashion and then come back around again, but often times they’re most associated with when they made their first big mark on street style.
How do The 70’s Trousers from Sézane Fit?
I got The 70’s Trousers in my true size and they are definitely fitted. The website suggests choosing your usual size, but if you’re in-between sizes to size up. I agree with this. I’ve had this style of jeans before from another brand, so I’ve learned that they’re a bit tricky with my curvy shape. In my true size, I have plenty of space in the waist but the hips are super snug. Historically, if I size up to give more space for my hips, the waist gaps a lot and the legs stretch out as well. So, knowing that these will relax and stretch with wear, I decided to keep my true size and wear them in. If you have more of a straight shape, these should fit just fine in your true size.
These are high-waisted jeans, made from 100% organic cotton, so no stretch in them. They are available in five different colors/washes. The website describe the jeans as straight leg. I honestly think they fall somewhere between a slim-ish wide leg, and flare style as they fall straight from the top of the thigh, expanding in width as they go, especially from the knee down.
The 70’s Trousers have a zip and button closure, patch pockets in front, and welt pockets in the black. They have a full length inseam at 33.5″. I’m 5’7″ with long-ish legs and the length is perfect or me. With flat shoes the jeans come almost all the way down to the ground and with a low heel they fall past my ankle, still looking full-length.

This first outfit is casual and comfy. It is giving laid back, spring vibes. The classic, structured handbag elevates the look giving it a touch of chic-ness and warmth.
2.) Ruffle Tank + 70’s Jeans + Heels
Tank (tts, pr product) | Belt | Jeans (tts or size up if in-between sizes, pr product) | Shoes (old from H&M) | Bag (pr product) | Long Necklace (pr product, code: MICHELLETOMCZAK10 for 10% off) | Short Necklace (pr product)
This outfit is a bit more elevated and feels like a date night outfit to me. The retro-style jeans work nicely with the feminine, ruffled tank. The black accessories elevate the look, making it feel more dressy with the low heel, belt, and smaller handbag.
3.) Linen Button Up + Jeans + Flats
Shirt (old, similar) | Jeans (tts or size up if in-between sizes, pr product) | Bag (pr product) | Shoes (tts, pr product, code: TOMCZAK for 15% off)
This is a great everyday spring look. It’s nice enough for workwear if you can wear jeans at your job. The button up shirt and pointed toe flats both feel elevated and classic, a nice contrast against the casual jeans. The structured handbag adds more interest and elevates the look even further.
4.) Tank Top + 70’s Jeans + Sneakers
Tank Top (tts) | Bag | Jeans (tts or size up if in-between sizes) | Short Necklace | Long Necklace | Sneakers (tts, code: MICHELLE15 for 15% off your first order)
The plain white tank and sneakers coordinate perfectly in this outfit and frame up The 70’s trousers to be the focal point of the look. It’s a really simple combination, but the jeans have enough details and shapes that the outfit still looks interesting. The pop of color added with a sling bag completes this casual outfit by adding a bit of texture and interest.
5.) Blazer + Tee + Jeans + Boots
Blazer (tts, pr product, code: MICHELLETOMCZAK15 for 15% off) | Tee (tts) | Necklace (pr product, code: MICHELLETOMCZAK10 for 10% off) | Jeans (tts or size up if in-between sizes, pr product) | Bag (pr product, code: MICHELLETOMCZAK15 for 15% off) | Boots (tts, pr product, code: MICHELLE15 for 15% off)
I recently wore this last outfit to a quarterly work meeting downtown. The blazer, handbag, and boots all elevate the casual base (white tee and jeans). The end result is a casual chic outfit.
