If you’ve been around here for any amount of time, you know I love denim— both jeans and shorts. At the end of last summer, I realized that every single pair of denim shorts in my wardrobe has a raw hem. I have shorts made of other materials that are hemmed, but this year I wanted to be sure to get a couple pairs of hemmed jean shorts.
Enter, the Sézane Rome Shorts in denim.
Sézane is a brand that I’ve browsed for years but had yet to try. I always love their feminine blouses and I hope to add one to my wardrobe soon.
When I saw the Rome shorts one day while browsing the Sézane website, I knew they were exactly what I was looking for. I wear mostly Agolde Shorts and I love them and their laid-back feel, but because that is covered in my closet I wanted something completely different.
How do Sézane Rome Shorts Fit?
The website says to take your normal size but if you’re in-between sizes to size down. I ordered my normal size, six and one size down, four. They actually both worked but I ended up liking how the four fit best, as I prefer fitted shorts.
The Rome shorts are currently available in six different colors, prints, and fabrics. I have the denim pair and they are made from GOTS certified organic material. The composition is 98% organic cotton, 2% elastane.
These shorts have a high waist and a flare leg. There have front pleats, a zip-fly and clasp closure and a removable belt. The hem is cuffed and the inseam is three inches.
Are Sézane Rome Shorts worth the price?
I really like the shorts. I’m happy with the design, details, and fit. I tend to invest more in bottoms than I do tops because I think fit and details go a really long way. These shorts are priced at $130. If you like the style but not the price, here are some similar options for less: one, two, three.
Sézane Rome Shorts Outfit Ideas
1.) Feminine Blouse + Shorts + Woven Mules
Blouse (small) | Necklace (Bexley by Sheena Marshall – similar) | Earrings | Shorts | Bag | Shoes (I sized up one size, but 1/2 is probably enough)

This outfit combo has been one of my go-to’s for years. A feminine blouse, denim, and woven mules. I love the subtle mix of textures which makes thing seemingly simple outfit quite interesting. It’s super wearable and perfect for later spring and into summer.
2.) Balloon Sleeve Blouse + Sézane Rome Shorts + Heels
Shirt (medium) | Earrings | Necklace (Bexley by Sheena Marshall – similar) | Bag | Shorts | Heels (old from H&M – similar)
In this outfit I dressed the shorts up with a black, balloon sleeve shirt and black heels. It feels feminine and a bit elevated. To add a touch of spring, I added a small purple handbag. Lately, I’ve been into pops of color in accessories, including painting my nails fun colors.
3.) Tank Top + Shorts + Heel Sandals
Tank Top (medium) | Sunglasses | Bag (old from Madewell) | Earrings | Shorts | Shoes
Summer vibes! I’m not wearing this outfit currently, but I wanted to make sure to include a summer outfit idea and I think it’s actually my favorite of the bunch. I will for sure be wearing this when hot days arrive. I always love a straw bag, ribbed tank, and a good pair of sunglasses in the summer.
4.) Cardigan Sweater + Sézane Rome Shorts + Cheetah Print Mules
Sunglasses | Cardigan (old from H&M – new version) | Bag | Earrings | Shorts | Shoes
This is a great casual outfit option for a warm spring day. You’ve seen me wear this rib-knit cardigan many, many times. I love it buttoned up as a top. My shoes and accessories take this casual look in a slightly chic-er direction.
