Sézane’s Clyde Trench Coat is the ultimate oversized trench for creating a modern look. It’s their newest trench coat, following up their iconic Scott Trench which is a classic silhouette for timeless dressing. I have and love both trench coats. There is room in your wardrobe for both due to the styling differences. Since the Clyde Trench Coat’s release, it continues to sell out quickly after each restock. My Clyde Trench Coat is the camel color, which was the first color released. Recently, with the success of the Clyde, Sézane added four more colors: black, ecru, dark khaki (which is a green color for the French), and light beige. My top three picks are: camel, dark khaki, and light beige.

How does the Sézane Clyde Trench Coat Fit?

The Sézane Clyde Trench Coat is meant to fit oversized and your true size achieves that look. With that said, if you’re between sizes or more petite, you might consider sizing down. For me at 5’7″, my true size works perfectly. The coat has a classic collar and a center button closure. The lining has a check print and the length of the coat falls between the knee and the ankle. It’s a really comfortable coat. In my experience, Sézane’s fit and quality is always exceptional.

What is the Clyde Trench Coat Made Of?

The main fabric of the Clyde Trench Coat is GOTS certified 100% organic cotton. The lining of the coat is 60% cotton and 40% polyester. It is a light-to-mid weight jacket— perfect for mild climates and spring/fall weather.

How to Style the Sézane Clyde Trench Coat: 5 Outfit Ideas

Nothing is easier than this first outfit combo. Layering the Clyde Trench over a jumpsuit makes for a comfy, casual chic look. I like it with a sling bag to break up the jumpsuit, but any bag would work. Any shoe would work as well but my favorites for the current weather are sneakers or flats.

The second outfit is a great workwear option. These pieces together create an everyday elevated outfit. The boots and trench coordinate for color repetition while the denim shirt and black bag stand out to create contrast. You could tuck the shirt if you want the final look to feel more polished.

I love how a trench coat elevates absolutely everything. Throwing on a matching, or non-matching, sweatsuit normally looks a bit un-done— but the trench immediately makes it feel cool. Your accessories can up the cool factor as well, choosing a high top sneaker vs. a trainer makes it feel more like streetwear as well.

For this look, I added pops of red for interest, contrast, and whimsy. I like the juxtaposition of the casual sweatshirt with the more elevated trousers. The end result is another comfortable yet put together look.

The Clyde Trench elevates an otherwise basic outfit base. In the last outfit, the color of the sneakers pairs back nicely to the sweatshirt, with the contrast of the darker jean in-between.
