Versatile garments are the backbone of my wardrobe. One item I wear so much, with so many things is a classic, white, collared, button front shirt. This piece always feels effortlessly fresh— the perfect mix of casual and put together.
A couple of months ago I got The Hero Button-Up Shirt from Grayson. I’m a brand ambassador with them which means that I receive gifted product, I get to share a discount code with you (use code: MICHELLETOMCZAK for $25 off your purchase), and I make a small commission on sales that come through my links. With that said, I decided to write this blog post on my own since I have loved wearing this shirt over the past couple of months— this is not a sponsored post.
What Fabric is it of?
The The Hero Shirt is a classic, button up shirt. I have the shirt in washed cotton in white. The fabric is 100% cotton and in this fabrication Grayson offers the shirt in white, blue, and gray. They also make The Hero Shirt in many other fabrics, colors, and prints. You can check them all out, here. (P.S. They just released this style in light denim and dark denim and I love that fabrication!) (update: I now have a blog post featuring the denim shirt, here)
The washed cotton fabric is not fully opaque, but it isn’t very see through either. In these photos I’m wearing nude undergarments and they don’t show through at all. However, if you’re looking for something more opaque, I recommend checking out the Hero Shirt in white tumbled linen or feathered flannel, and for a more sheer look check out The Hero Shirt in white tissue cotton.
How Does The Hero Shirt Fit?
The Hero Button Up Shirt was designed with thoughtful detailing. The buttons are placed in a way to intentionally “banish the boob gap”. The fit is relaxed, I sized down one size for this more fitted look. The sizing is a number system of one through five. One fits like an extra small counting up by one size per number to five which fits like an extra large. They added a “cape-like pleat back” for a flattering fit.

I highly recommend this shirt. I love it with a really good pair of jeans, woven mules, and a leather tote. I’ve also worn it with a few different pairs of shorts when the weather is warm. I look forward to layering it under coats, jackets, and sweaters as we get into the cooler months ahead. If you follow along with me on Instagram, you will see it in some of my recent daily outfits and there will be more fall looks to come!
