It is hard to believe, but this year is coming to a close! After spending most of 2020 at home, getting back into normal life routines made this year feel so fast. I think it’s both beneficial and fun to look back over the year and see what worked and what didn’t, what you learned, what you want to change, etc., in all areas of your life. Since I’m letting you into my wardrobe journey in this space, I wanted to share what my favorite wardrobe purchases were in 2021.
Blazer (small) | Sweater (medium) | Jeans (28×28) | Bag (old from ABLE – same style in a different color)
My goal is to build an intentional wardrobe full of high-quality pieces that I love, that work for my lifestyle, and fit me perfectly. I like to support brands that I believe are making a positive impact in the fashion industry as much as I can. My wardrobe is a mix of investment pieces, affordable pieces, and a few me made items. I’ve worked to build the basics up first and then add in some fun. If you want to learn more about my process of how I build my wardrobe, you can start reading about it, here. So with that, here are my favorite pieces that I added to my wardrobe in 2021!
If you see something you like you can shop it and support my blog at the same time by purchasing through the affiliate links in this post. As always, I really appreciate your support!
Coats & Jackets
- Long Quilted Coat: I got this coat in brown, wore it non-stop, and was stopped by strangers and asked about it so many times. The coat had immediately sold out. When it came back in stock I grabbed the black one. It’s a thinner coat, perfect for the south and you can easily layer under it for added warmth. I wear these coats all the time— I love them so much. As of right now, they’re sold out again, but here is a similar option.
- Denim Jacket: I just got this piece and it’s so soft and such a great wash. I’m looking forward to wearing it a lot this spring.
- Trench Coat: I can’t believe I waited so long to get a trench coat. This piece instantly makes every outfit look better and so chic. It’s a timeless, super versatile piece and I love wearing it. My trench coat is sold out from H&M, but there are some similar options— here, here, and here.
- Black Blazer: This is another timeless top layer that can be worn in so many different ways. I’ve worn blazers a lot this year, mostly in a casual way. You can see outfit ideas with this black blazer, here.
- Plaid Blazer: This piece is neutral and versatile like the black blazer but it’s a bit more fun with the plaid print. My exact blazer is from H&M in-store and it is not online. There are similar options here, here, and here.
Tops:
- White Ribbed Turtleneck: I got this shirt in gray three years ago and it’s been a consistent favorite of mine, especially for layering in the fall and winter. Click here for outfit ideas with this turtleneck.
- Muscle Tees: I have these in multiple neutral colors and I wore them non-stop throughout the spring and summer. My favorite one was the muscle tee cut but as a sweater. (I sized down 1-2 sizes to XS for a more cropped, fitted look)
- Rib-Knit Cardigan Sweaters: I love these (needless to say since I have three colors) They work well in the spring, fall, and winter. I love them as a top layer or buttoned-up fully and worn more like a shirt. The balloon sleeves make this style feel slightly more modern and interesting than a standard cut cardigan.
Jeans:
- Agolde 90s Mid Rise Loose Jeans: These are currently my favorite style of jeans. You can read my full review about them and see outfit ideas, here.
- Agolde 90s Pinch Waist Jeans: These jeans are a close second to the style above. You can read my full review about them and see outfit ideas, here.
- Levi’s 501 Skinny Jeans: I’ve worn this style of Levi’s for years now. I have them in a few washes. Since they are a go-to for me, I bought them in a clean dark wash for winter because I know they look amazing with boots and because I lacked dark wash denim in my wardrobe.
Shorts:
- Agolde Reese Shorts: These are the perfect pair of everyday denim shorts for spring and summer. You can read my full review and see outfit ideas with them, here.
- Agolde Riley Shorts: I just got these on sale and I can’t wait to wear them next year.
- Agolde Parker Long Shorts: These are a great staple pair of denim shorts for the summer. You can read my full review and see outfit ideas with them, here.
- Everlane Way High Shorts: The highest rise and a great length. These shorts are a great non-denim shorts option. I got the brown color first and I loved them so much that I grabbed them in black too.
Shoes:
- ABLE Blake Sneakers: These are the cutest neutral trainers from one of my favorite local brands. They run really small so size up one full size.
- Nisolo Amalia Boots: These beauties are the nicest boots I own. I love them so much. You can check out my full review of these boots plus see them in outfits in this post.
- Small Lot Co Mary Janes: This has been a fun shoe style to add to my wardrobe. They are feminine but still feel casual as they’re made of canvas. They’re sold in whole sizes only so I sized down 1/2 size.
- Converse Chuck 70 High Tops: These sneakers were out of stock for a long time. I’ve worn converse sneakers for years— that traditional low tops and high tops. These were just re-stocked so I ordered them and can’t wait to wear them.
- Target Slide Sandals: I first got these in tan and then quickly grabbed them in white too and wore them both all summer long.
- Mohinder Woven Slides: These handmade shoes are so beautiful— I love the woven leather. They are sold in whole sizes only so I sized up 1/2 size per the recommendation of the website and they fit great. I love the ease of slide style shoes and woven leather is quite possibly one of my fashion love languages. 🙂
Accessories:
- Bexley Necklace: This is a special piece. I wear this necklace every day. It’s so beautiful and it’s handmade by my friend Sheena who has her own jewelry company.
- Black Handbag: This is a classic piece that I just got and look forward to wearing for years to come.
- Cognac Handbag: This is a fun little bag with top handles. The classic color is so wearable.
- Straw Bag: This Madewell bag is sold out now. I used it every day this summer, it was my absolute favorite. I got it as a more affordable dupe to this clare v. bag.
