Although it has been a crazy year, with many things cancelled due to the pandemic, the holidays are still approaching. They will likely look different and you may not have your normal holiday work party this year, but in case you have some version of a holiday party (or in case you have a zoom party) I wanted to share six easy holiday outfit combinations that will work for small gatherings, outdoor gatherings, and zoom parties.
Elements of a Holiday Outfit
First let’s talk about what things make up an outfit: shoes, top & bottom or one piece, top layer, and accessories.
Shoes. There are three options here— dress flats, heels, dress boots/booties. Each will give a different feel. Flats are tailored and the most casual. Heels are more delicate and feminine. Dress boots are chic and edgy— these could be any height from ankle booties up to over the knee boots.
Accessories. These can be subtle and understated or they can really make an impactful statement in your look. This would include how you style your hair, your jewelry choices, your handbag, your nail polish and makeup choices.
Tops. When it comes to tops for holiday outfits I would stick to a blouse or a statement sweater.
Top Layers. For holiday outfits the best top layer options are: leather or faux leather jacket, dressy or statement cardigan sweater, blazer, or tailored coat.
Bottoms. The best bottoms for holiday outfits are: black pants, (these are can skinny jeans or dress pants—any cut will do) raw dark indigo denim that looks dressy, trousers in any neutral or holiday color, and skirts.
One Pieces. Wearing a dress or jumpsuit is a great option for a holiday party instead of putting together a top and bottom.
Outfit Combinations
Outfit #1: Skinny Jeans + Blouse + Blazer + Flats
Shirt (old from H&M – similar) | Blazer (old from Jenni Kayne – similar) | Earrings | Jeans | Shoes (old from Zara- new version)
This outfit is definitely festive and visually interesting with the red blazer and patterned blouse, but the skinny jeans and flats keep it comfortable. If you want to dress it up a bit more, you could simply swap the flats for heels or black dress boot/booties.

Outfit #2: Dress + Faux Leather Jacket + Heels
Jacket | Dress (sold out from H&M – similar, similar, similar) | Heels
This look is feminine with a bit of edginess. The smooth black jacket tones down the all white textured dress, and the leopard heels bring in additional visual interest. If it is cold where you live you could add tights, and if leopard is not your thing just swap for black heels.
Outfit # 3: Black Midi Skirt + Sweater + Booties
Sweater (old from Old Navy – similar, similar, similar) | Jacket | Skirt (sold out from A&F – similar, similar, similar) | Bag (old – similar, similar) | Boots
This outfit is easy and comfortable, but still elevated. The dress boots and leather jacket help make this look a bit edgy. To make it feel more feminine and dainty you could swap the booties for black heels.
Outfit #4: Jumpsuit + Statement Sweater + Heels
Sweater Blazer (sold out – from J.Crew) | Jumpsuit (old from Asos – similar, similar, similar) | Shoes
This look is so comfortable, but still looks very nice and dressed up. The flowy jumpsuit and heels feel classic and chic, while the leopard sweater blazer adds visual interest and warmth (this jumpsuit is short-sleeved). The black heels add a dressed-up, feminine finish to this look.
Outfit #5: Trousers + Sweater + Blazer + Heels
Sweater Blazer | Sweater | Earrings | Pants (sold out from H&M – similar, similar) | Bag (old – similar, similar) | Heels
This neutral look feels holiday ready with the leopard heels and black clutch. To make it a little more festive, you could add red lipstick and/or red nail polish.
Outfit #6: Statement Sweater + Black Dress + Black Boots
Sweater (old from H&M) | Dress (old from H&M – similar, similar) | Bag (sold out – similar same brand) | Boots
This feels sassy and a bit retro with the shorter, a-line little black dress and black dress booties. The fuzzy sweater feels dressy and adds texture, while keeping the outfit neutral. This crossbody bag can turn into a cloth just by removing the strap!
I hope these holiday outfit combinations are helpful for you! I am curious, do you have a holiday work party this year and if so, what will it look like? I would love to hear from you in the comments below!

I love how thoughtfully you put each holiday outfit together! Definitely lots of inspo here. No holiday office parties for me, but these looks would be great for at home celebrations too. Thanks for sharing!
