This season I’ve really enjoyed making fall outfits and now winter is right around the corner. (kind of crazy, right!?) A denim button-up shirt is a fantastic staple item that can be worn throughout fall and into winter. It’s lovely on it’s own and it looks great layered too! It’s such an effortless piece, making outfits feel simultaneously laid-back and elevated.

I love the light wash of this denim button-up shirt because it can easily be paired with medium or dark washed blue jeans and create enough contrast for the outfit to work. Front tucked and left loose in the back is my favorite way to wear it. I finished the look with tan accessories— a crossbody bag and my favorite mary jane shoes. This mixes tailored (shirt), relaxed (denim), and feminine (shoes) and creates a super wearable, everyday look.

In this look I love the contrast of the black washed jeans against the light wash, denim button-up shirt. The chunky, lug sole boots make this look feel modern and they contrast against the lighter more airy feel of the shirt and draped sweater. This outfit works for fall or winter!

I’ve been loving brown this season and these pants are a lovely red/brown hue. Additionally, the shape of the barrel leg and cropped length are two of my favorite details. The pants pair so nicely with the denim button-up shirt. I like this pairing with woven mules but I also considered white sneakers— both work!

For a layered look, I added a trench coat over the denim button-up shirt and I love how it turned out. I opted for white jeans to keep the outfit light and fresh and cheetah print mules to add a bit of whimsy because, why not? : )
