They’re back! You have probably been seeing them around, and If you are anywhere near my age, then you likely wore your fair share of corduroys in the 90’s. At the school I went to, the dress code did not allow jeans, so my corduroys (and khaki pants) were in heavy rotation throughout middle and high school.
After about a twenty year break, I recently picked up some corduroy pants from Everlane. I have to say, I have really loved wearing them. I am always a big fan of texture, and the extremely fall-ish, golden brown color that I bought them in is so lovely. The modern cut of these pants brings this textile into today.
So how do you wear them now? I have found them to be very versatile and easy to pair with a lot of things in my closet!
For a Day Running Errands:
This is all about ease and comfort. I love the look of a denim jacket. It provides extra warmth but also can be easily removed and is not bulky. The plush long sleeve tee and vans sneakers are both very comfortable and easy to move around in while on the go!

For a Casual Hang:
I recently wore this to a friend’s birthday celebration. It is a simple pairing of a graphic tee and corduroys, but adding the heeled leather boots and (faux) leather jacket elevates it just enough!

For a Cozy Day In:
Wearing this sherpa sweatshirt is like being wrapped in a blanket, which is exactly how I want to feel when I am spending the day at home! While hanging around the house, I wear my fuzzy slippers. If I need to head out of the house, I throw on these slip-on sneakers.

For Work:
I work from home, which means I have way less of a need for blouses and nice pants than when I worked in an office. At this stage of my life, my wardrobe is really casual, but I still enjoy swapping out my favorite t-shirts for a blouse every now and then.

For a Night Out:
This outfit and my “casual hang” outfit, could be inter-changable. And also, could truly be worn any time. At first, I struggled with this, and thought maybe I needed to change something. Then I realized that this underlines the fact that I almost always have a casual feel to my outfits. Unless I am headed to a specific event that calls for a dress and heels, I carry a casual vibe around with me and I am totally okay with that.

These pants really work for me because they embody my style and work in a variety of outfits. I am aiming to have a closet full of pieces that I love, that fit well, that make sense for my life, and that I will get a lot of wear out of. I am trying to weave intentionality in with fun and these pants do just that!
Do you have a favorite way that you style your corduroys? I would love to hear your ideas!
