As a denim lover, it feels right for my first blog post of 2025 to be a review of the Citizens of Humanity Paloma Baggy Jean. This jean is different than any others that I own. Let’s get into the details plus go over a few outfit ideas with the jeans.
How do Citizens of Humanity Paloma Jeans Fit?
The Paloma Baggy Jean fits true to size. I know that some people size down in some of Citizen’s other baggy styles (i.e. ayla, horseshoe), but I wouldn’t recommend that here. The Paloma Jean is an early 2000s throwback, with a wide leg and zip fly. It’s a 12″ high-rise style, which I was surprised to read because these don’t sit as high on me as some of my other high rise jeans. They have a full-length, 32″ inseam. You can see the length below on me, I am 5’7″.

What are the Citizens of Humanity Paloma Jeans Made Of?
The Paloma Jean is made of 70% lyocell (a semi-synthetic fiber made from wood pulp) and 30% pre-consumer, recycled cotton. The fabric is thinner/lighter and a bit smoother than 100% cotton denim. Overall I would say it feels a little more elevated and less bulky than traditional cotton denim. They do relax some with wear, but they keep their shape. I have them in a medium, indigo wash called SIESTA. They’re currently also available in a handful of other washes on the Citizen’s website: washed black, dark indigo, light to medium indigo, light indigo, and white.

1.) Graphic Tee + Sweater + Paloma Jeans + Ballet Flats
Tee (old – similar) // Sweater (code: MICHELLET for 15% off) // Bag // Jeans // Ballet Flats (code: MICHELLE15 for 15% off your first order)
This first look is casual and great for everyday wear. The base is simply a graphic tee and jeans. You could also grab a plain tee if you prefer. I added the sweater for another layer and the matching shoes + bag elevate the look.
2.) Turtleneck + Faux Fur Jacket + Baggy Jeans + Heels
Coat (old from Sézane – similar) // Turtleneck (code: MICHELLET for 15% off) // Belt // Jeans // Bag (code: MICHELLE15 for 15% off your first order) // Heels (code: TOMCZAK for 10% off)
It’s really easy to dress these jeans up. I like them paired with a black turtleneck and black accessories— simple yet chic. In this outfit, I added a faux fur leopard coat and heels for a night out. Any statement jacket (or non-statement jacket) would work over this outfit base.
3.) Fitted Tee + Trench Coat + Paloma Baggy Jeans + Boots
Trench Coat // Tee // Jeans // Bag // Boots
This third look is a slightly elevated, everyday look. I love it as is with the boots coordinating back to the trench coat. It would also work (and be more casual/cool) with cream high tops (size down 1/2) that pair back to the cream tote. I love the pop of red for some interest, right in the center of the outfit.
4.) Crewneck Sweatshirt + Baggy Jeans + Sneakers
Sweatshirt // Bag // Jeans // Sneakers (size down 1/2)
This next look is fully casual. These are the sneakers I referenced could work in the last outfit. Here, I’ve paired them with a crewneck sweatshirt. The beaded necklace and elevated tote make the outfit feel more interesting and complete.
5.) Button Up Shirt + Bold Coat + Paloma Baggy Jeans + Heels
Button Up Shirt (code: MICHELLET for 15% off) // Alexandra Coat (code: MICHELLETOMCZAK15 for 15% off) // Jeans // Bag // Belt // Heels (code: TOMCZAK for 10% off)
The last outfit feels like a great workwear option for anyone who is able to wear jeans to work. The jeans are a casual piece, surrounded by elevated pieces. The burgundy coat adds color interest which keeping the outfit looking casual chic.
