Nine point eight times out of ten, I’m wearing rigid denim. And if there is any stretch in my jeans, it’s only one percent (literally). I haven’t purchased stretchy jeans in ages— like, I can’t even remember when. I think it must have been in the postpartum phases of my child-birthing years. I’m opinionated about my denim— I know what I like. Turns out though, even denim brats can change their minds. : ) Cue receiving the Citizens of Humanity Palma Straight Jean.

Back in September, I had the opportunity to attend a lunch and then a shopping event with Citizens of Humanity x Emerson Grace Boutique here in Nashville. It was for the launch of Citizen’s Soft Stretch Collection. As I mentioned, I’m not a stretch denim girl but— I’m a HUGE fan of Citizens of Humanity and if anyone is going to do stretch denim right, it’s going to be them. I probably wouldn’t have purchased the jeans on my own, but they offered to send a pair to me for the event. I was grateful and intrigued. I got the Palma Jeans and I was impressed. Spoiler alert: I ended up purchasing another pair of jeans from the Soft Stretch Collection at the shopping event.

How do Citizens of Humanity Palma Jeans Fit?

I got the Palma Jeans in my true size and they’re great. The stretchiness makes for a more versatile fit so I think the size below would have probably also worked, but I’m happy with my true size. Even though these jeans are stretchy, they somehow hold their shape and don’t get baggy with wear— a definite win. This is a high-rise (11 inches), classic straight style with a 27.5 inch inseam. For me at 5’7″, they hit right above my ankle bone. They have a raw hem for a relaxed look, and a 17″ leg opening.

What are the Citizens of Humanity Palma Jeans Made Of?

The comfort— you guys, the Palma Jeans feel like pjs. Here’s the fabric content breakdown: 81% Cotton, 11% Lyocell, 6% Polyester, 2% Elastane. I have them in the wash AMBRY, a bright medium indigo with fading and whiskering. There are currently four other washed available: washed black, vintage medium indigo, light indigo, and white.

1.) Barn Coat + Sweater + Palma Jeans + Mules

This first outfit starts with a simple base of a sweater and jeans. The barn coat adds another layer and interest to the look. The accessories are fun— an embossed croc print sling bag for added texture and leopard print mules for a pop of whimsy.

2.) Sweater + Straight Stretch Jeans + High Top Sneakers

The second look is another sweater and jeans combo. The cream shoes and tote bag pair together nicely in color, but add contrasting styles to the look. This one is the perfect, everyday outfit.

Look three is a double denim outfit, which I’m always a fan of. This denim shirt has feminine styling and is a lighter wash than the jeans. I grabbed silver ballet flats and a black elevated handbag to finish the look.

4.) Sweatshirt + Soft Stretch Jeans + Slip-On Sneakers

This last outfit is casual vibes with a bunch of interest. The white tee peeking out of the red graphic sweatshirt pairs back to the white printed “French Enough” on the sweatshirt. The suede sling bag adds texture and coordinates back to the tan in the tan and white checkered slip-on sneakers.
