There are quite a few trends that I am loving this fall and the lug boot trend is one of them. I always pay attention to what is happening in the world of women’s fashion, but I only wear the trends that I feel inspired by and comfortable in. I prefer for the majority of my wardrobe to be high-quality pieces that are pretty classic and steadfast like my favorite— jeans!
Back to the boots! The pair featured in this post are from H&M. (I wear size 7.5 and I got these boots in a size 7) They are pretty much an exact dupe of the BV Lug Boots, for a tiny fraction of the cost. Many brands are making versions of this boot, so I will link some similar options for you in the photos below. If you don’t prefer the pull-on chelsea boot style, lace-up combat boots are also big this season and it seems that the number of doc marten’s I see around only continues to grow.
I feel like I need to address the fact that in one of my fall wardrobe series posts, I made the declaration that I only buy leather boots. The boots in this post are not leather. May this be a lesson to me to not make such declarations— ha! However, I am sitting here trying to remember the last pair of synthetic boots that I purchased and it was at least ten plus years ago. So my statement is that I rarely buy boots that are not leather. Welcome to the rare occasion. : ) Here are six outfits I styled up with these boots!
Outfit #1: Lug Boots + Flowy Midi Dress + Belt Bag
Dress (sold out – similar, similar) | Boots ( similar, similar, similar) | Sunglasses (old from Warby Parker) | Belt Bag (matte version)

I am a tad obsessed with this outfit! I have loved wearing this flowy, midi dress with white sneakers in the summer and now I equally love it with these lug boots and belt bag for fall. I would wear this outfit day or night!
Outfit #2: Lug Boots + Stripe Shirt + Military Jacket + Belt + Slim Jeans
Shirt (old – similar) | Jacket (old – this year’s version) | Belt (old from TopShop – similar) | Jeans | Earrings | Boots (similar, similar, similar)
This is an easy, everyday outfit that I would wear while I run errands and play with my kids. These are technically called skinny jeans but I find the leg to be slim but not super tight at the ankle— so these lug boots fit under them. I love the boots paired with my favorite black belt!
Outfit #3: Lug Boots + Coatigan + Tee + Ripped Mom Jeans + Crossbody bag
Coatigan (old from Old Navy – similar) | Tee | Jeans (old – new wash, I got the long inseam and I am 5’7″) | Bag (old – similar from the same brand) | Sunglasses (old from Warby Parker) | Boots ( similar, similar, similar)
I really love this combo. It feels simultaneously laid-back and elevated. The textures, proportions and neutral colors are a fall dream come true. I cuffed the full-length jeans so you could see more of the lug boots, plus it made the proportions feels right. I am wearing a simple white tee under the coatigan— this outfit is super comfortable. I would wear this day or night, to run errands or to dinner with friends!
Outfit #4: Lug Boots + Dress + Long Cardigan + Belt Bag
Dress (old – similar) | Cardigan (old – this year’s version) | Belt Bag (matte version) | Earrings | Boots ( similar, similar, similar)
This outfit is cozy while still looking a bit elevated. This stretchy dress under a long cardigan sweater feels like pjs, but it looks nice. The lug boots definitely add an edge to this otherwise simple outfit combination. It is kind of an in-between outfit— it could be worn day or night!
Outfit #5: Lug Boots + Faux Leather Jacket + Ribbed Tee + Skinny Jeans
Faux Leather Jacket (old from BB Dakota) | Long-Sleeve Tee (old – similar) | Jeans | Earrings | Boots ( similar, similar, similar)
These are true skinny jeans and they easily tuck into the lug boots so that you can see the full boots including the tab detailing on the front and back of the boots. This is a simple outfit combination that I would wear day or night, for pretty much any activity!
Outfit #6: Lug Boots + Hat + Sweatshirt + Midi Skirt + Crossbody Bag
Hat (old – similar) | Sweatshirt (old – similar) | Skirt (old – similar) | Bag (old – similar from the same brand) | Boots ( similar, similar, similar)
This black midi skirt has turned out to be a super versatile piece in my closet that I can wear all through spring, summer, and fall. The lug boots and black hat help bring this skirt into fall and the sweatshirt helps the outfit to feel not too dressy. I have mentioned before that I love mixing different “feels” in outfits— casual and dressy, hard and soft, feminine and masculine. This outfit is an example of this!
After putting all of these outfits together, it solidified that fact that I really like these boots. It was very easy to make a variety of outfits with them, using things that I already had in my wardrobe. What about you— would you wear lug sole boots, and if so which of these outfits would you most likely wear? How would you style lug boots for fall? Let me know in the comments below!
