Today I’m excited to be sharing a review of Agolde 90s Pinch Waist High Rise Straight Jeans. Earlier this year, I purchased and reviewed the Agolde 90s Loose Fit Jeans. They immediately became my most worn style of jeans— I can’t even count how many times I’ve already worn them this year. Because of that, I decided to get the 90s Pinch Waist jeans to try and share with all of you what I think about them!
What is a Pinch Waist Jean?
First of all, what does pinch waist mean? As you might imagine, it’s a silhouette that is super fitted and almost cinched in at the waist and fitted through the hips. Agolde originally debuted this type of waist in their style called Pinch Waist High Rise Kick Jeans. They then released the 90s Pinch Waist Jeans, and lastly the Pinch Waist Skinny Jeans. So the leg silhouette differs but the waist and hips are cut similarly.
How do Agolde 90s Pinch Waist Jeans Fit?
After reading a lot of reviews, I decided to get my true size in the wash lineup. I’m kind of in-between sizes right now and my preference is that my jeans are fitted rather than relaxed. Their website says that they are true to size but made to fit close to the waist, so they recommend sizing up if you’re in between sizes. Like I said, I did not size up but I think your body shape and fit preference (fitted or relaxed) could help you determine if true to size of sizing up works for you. All of my other Agolde Jeans are pretty clean, so I opted for this wash because it’s a nice medium wash with some rips and distressing.
Like almost every style of Agolde jeans, this style has a button fly closure. The rise is high at 12.75 inches. The leg is a straight cut with a full length inseam of 29.5 inches. For reference, I am 5’7″ and they are perfectly full length on me. They are made from rigid (no stretch) yet soft, one hundred percent organic cotton. If you want them to be fitted, I recommend buying them to fit pretty snug. The right fit for me means they are tough to button up initially. Then, as you wear them, they relax and form to your body, stretching to the perfect fit.
Agolde 90s Pinch Waist jeans are currently offered in eleven different washes on Agolde’s website. From white, to light, medium, and darker shades of indigo, to washed black styles. Some are clean washes, which others have distressing on the knees.

I love a little bit of denim on denim, as long as the washes contrast enough. This outfit feels perfect for the transitional weather we are currently having— jacket over a tank top for the morning and removed in the afternoon heat!
2.) Blouse + Agolde 90s Pinch Waist Jeans + Flats
Blouse (old from H&M – similar) | Earrings | Jeans | Shoes (old from Mango – similar)
I always love a good blouse with feminine details! The ripped jeans help keep this outfit casual and the mary janes are a fun shoe style that have been popping up everywhere.
3.) Sweater + Agolde 90s Pinch Waist Jeans + White Sneakers
Sweater | Earrings | Jeans | Sneakers
This is the perfect, everyday look! It’s so comfy and casual with great details— the texture on the sweater, rips on the jeans, and crisp white sneakers.
4.) Turtleneck + Oversized Jacket + Jeans + Mules
Turtleneck | Jacket (I sized down one size) | Earrings | Jeans | Shoes
I have had this turtleneck for a few years now and every year I seem to love it more. It works so well with denim or trousers. I love, love these whimsical, cheetah print mules— they make any outfit more interesting.
5.) Blazer + Jeans + Heel Boots
Blazer (I sized down one size, it’s current in-store at H&M but not online – similar) | Shirt | Earrings | Necklace | Jeans | Boots
This look is the most elevated of the bunch. It is still easy and wearable, but more chic. It’s perfect for a casual date night.
Agolde 90s Mid Rise Loose Fit Jeans vs. Agolde 90s Pinch Waist High Rise Straight Jeans
So, how do the 90s Loose Jeans compare to the 90s Pinch Waist Jeans?
The most obvious visual difference to me is the length. The 90s loose jeans hit more at the ankle or slightly above, while the 90s Pinch Waist jeans are 1/2 inch longer, appearing more full-length on me (I am 5’7″).
I think the sizing is the biggest difference. My true size is 28/29. For the same fitted look, I wear a size 27 in the 90s Loose Jeans (my wash is snapshot – see my full review here) and a size 28 or 29 in the 90s Pinch Waist Jeans. In the wash lineup, which you see in this post I have a size 29. However, I tried the same style on in the black tea wash and the size 28 fit me. I highly recommend reading reviews about whatever specific wash you’re looking to purchase because they can run slightly different.
The 90s Pinch Waist jeans are also a bit slimmer at the ankle. While the differences may look subtle, they do look and feel different to me in the waist and hips.
I really like them both and would absolutely buy more washes in both styles, but if I had to pick just one the 90s Loose Fit Jeans sized down for a tight fit is my favorite style on my body shape.
Thanks for reading my review of Agolde 90s Pinch Waist jeans! Have you tried them? If so, let me know which wash you have and what you like about them in the comments below!

Hi there, I just bought the 90s pinch waist and I do feel like they are tight in the waist with taking my true size. Would you suggest keeping them because they will loosen up in time in terms of the waist?
Michelle says
Hi! Yes it will loosen up some. So if it’s just a bit tight, I’d keep them.
