Today was seventy-nine degrees here in Nashville, and while not every day is shorts weather just yet, the warm days are coming. Today I’m reviewing one of my favorite pairs of denim shorts, the Agolde Dee shorts.
I got these shorts back in the summer of 2019. It was my second pair of shorts from Agolde after first buying the Parker shorts in the spring that same year. Back then, the inseam on the Dee shorts felt pretty long and the rise is very high-waisted making them a bit outside of what looked mainstream at that point. Now they look pretty standard as shorts lengths have increased over the past few years. Nonetheless, I loved them back then and I still love them now.
**For sizing reference my true sizes are: small/medium in tops (depends on the brand and cut, I’d say I have half and half in my closet), medium in jackets and dresses, 6/28 or medium in bottoms and I usually get regular length (I’m 5’7″), shoe size 38/7.5**
Tank top (medium) | Necklace (Bexley 20″ – similar same brand) | Shorts (I sized up one size to 29)

Agolde Dee Shorts Washes
The Agolde Dee Shorts are currently available in seven washes on their website— jinx (light indigo), muse (light authentic indigo), chimes (powdery blue with indigo finish), turmoil (medium indigo with fading), moxy (medium gray), exhibit (washed black), and divise (black wash).
You can also still find washes from previous seasons like epic (medium blue), riccochet (medium blue – the pair in this post), and paper (ivory wash – I own these).
How do Agolde Dee Shorts Fit?
I find with Agolde it’s pretty important to read reviews on the specific wash that you’re interested in buying because they can run slightly different. My go-to place to do that is Revolve’s website.
The Dee shorts are made from 100% organic cotton denim, so they are rigid (no stretch in the fabric). They have a 12 1/2 button-fly closure and a super high, close-fitting waist. You want them to start out very fitted and then with wear they’ll relax and mold to your shape. Overall I would say it’s more of a slim, fitted cut vs a relaxed style. The inseam is 3 1/2 inches. There are slits on the side seams of the legs to give a bit of space for your legs when you sit down, and they give the shorts a relaxed look as well.
My normal size is 28 which I have in all other styles of Agolde shorts, but I size up one size in the Dees to 29. From the reviews I have read and friends I have talked to the general consensus for most is to size up. However, I’ve heard from a few friends who are more petite that their true size works for them. So, take note of your height and shape when choosing your size. If you need or want more space in the waist, I would definitely say to size up.
Agolde Dee Outfit Ideas:
1.) Blouse + Shorts + Sandals
Blouse (sold out from Old Navy – similar) | Necklace (Bexley 20″ – similar same brand) | Earrings | Sandals (I sized up 1/2 size to 8) | Shorts (I sized up one to 29) | Backpack | Wallet
This first outfit is the summer version of my favorite outfit combination which is a feminine blouse, denim, and sandals. I almost always front tuck my tops into these shorts because of the flattering proportions that the high, fitted waist bring. I love all of the texture in this look from the clip dot blouse, the distressing on the shorts, raffia sandals, and the leather backpack.
2.) Graphic Dee + Agolde Dee Shorts + Sneakers
Oversized Tee (small) | Shorts (I sized up one to 29) | Sneakers (whole sizes only so I sized down to 7) | Bag | Necklace (Bexley 20″ – similar same brand) | Gigi Chai Sunglasses (use code MichelleT15 for 15% off)
I love how relaxed this outfit is, but the proportions make it feel modern. I really like how the oversized tee pairs back to the chunky sneakers super well— both in color and in proportion. The graphic on the tee, sunglasses, and distressed cut offs just scream summer, which will be here before we know it.
3.) Rib-Knit Tank + Agolde Dee Shorts + Slide Sandals
Tank top (medium) | Shorts (I sized up one size to 29) | Necklace (Bexley 20″ – similar same brand) | Bag | Sandals (whole sizes only so I sized down 1/2 to 7)
This last look is the most summer-y of the three. I love wearing white tops and in this outfit the sandals balance out the rib-knit tank nicely by repeating the white. The warm handbag brings dimension to this look so the outfit doesn’t feel too flat. The simple pieces in this look let the shorts be the focal point of the outfit.
Are Agolde Dee Shorts Worth the Price?
In my opinion— absolutely! Yes, they are pricey but the fit, detailing, and washes are the best I’ve worn. The pair in this post is still in great condition after three summers. I get so much wear out of them! Sometimes I find Agolde shorts on sale in the off-season, so that is a way to help with the cost.
Thanks for reading my post! Have you tried Agolde denim shorts? Let me know in the comments below if you have and what you love most about them. I’m also happy to answer any questions as well!
