It’s officially spring and with that, I’ve been wearing lots of spring outfits! It’s been such a nice change from winter. Spring in Nashville definitely has temperature swings. We have cold rainy days, chilly days, and sunny days warm enough to wear shorts. I personally think it’s fun when the weather calls for a range of types of outfits— I’m a fan of variety.
I recently shared how I build my spring wardrobe and my spring wardrobe essentials for this year. Today, I’m sharing my go-to spring outfit combos for 2022. These are outfits combinations that I gravitate to and find myself wearing versions of on repeat. The combos themselves are pretty basic, but within them you can make a variety of different outfits and style up all the extra details with accessories. They feel like these little fail proof guides for me and I enjoy them because I still feel creative within them.
A few of these spring outfit combos are the same as last year and a few are new go-to’s for me. As I write these posts each season, I’m realizing that about half of my combos stay the same from the year before and half are new. Even if the combo stays the same, I can see that within the combos the styles of clothing changes a bit. It could be the cut of jean, style of spring jackets, accessories, etc. that change. Also, my preferences change a bit too. That might look like a switch from a neutral to a color, solid to a print, or a graphic tee to a plain tee (to name a few simple examples).
With that, here is what I have been loving to wear so far this spring!
**For sizing reference my true sizes are: small/medium in tops (depends on the brand and cut, I’d say I have half and half in my closet), medium in jackets and dresses, 6/28 or medium in bottoms and I usually get regular length (I’m 5’7″), shoe size 38/7.5**
Spring Outfit Combos:
1.) Feminine Blouse + Jeans + Mules
Blouse (small – similar, similar) | Jeans (I sized down one to 27) | Bag (old from Madewell – similar, similar) | Shoes (old from Madewell – similar – I have these in brown and I recommend sizing up 1/2)

Let’s start out with a repeated combo from last year. I wear a version of this combination in every season— it’s always one of my favorites. In spring and fall I wear it like this. In the summer I swap the jeans for shorts. In the winter I wear a long-sleeve feminine top and shoes or boots. I love denim, and my favorite rigid jeans simultaneously blend and contrast with a feminine style blouse. The fabrics contrast (light/soft vs heavy/rigid) but the color of the light wash denim blends nicely with the spring top and the bone mules finish that feeling. I love tailored shoes (mules, oxfords) with feminine tops because of the style contrast. I don’t like outfits to just go one way, I like to mix!
2.) Blazer + Tee + Jeans
Blazer (small) | Tee (small, sold out from H&M – similar, similar) | Jeans (28 – newer wash) | Bag | Necklace (sold out Bexley 20″ – similar) | Sneakers
This is a new spring go-to outfit combo for me. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time this year, you’ve seen me in a blazer. I’ve loved and worn them so much. For me, it’s fun to style them in very casual ways. They add a touch of chic-ness to otherwise basic looks. I have a black blazer, plaid blazer, and I recently picked up this tan one. The tan feels perfect for spring and I’m looking forward to wearing all season long. Here I’m wearing the blazer with full length jeans, white sneakers, and a graphic tee. I’ve been gravitating towards wearing more color this spring and I’m most excited for that to be in accessories, like this little purple bag.
3.) Dress + Sneakers
Dress (small) | Necklace (sold out Bexley 20″ – similar) | Bag (new color) | Sneakers
Here is another combo repeated from past seasons. I’m such a jeans girl, but I love wearing dresses in spring and summer. In the summer I pair dresses with sandals, but in the spring white sneakers are my top shoe choice.
4.) Wide Leg Pants + Sneakers
Pants (medium) | Tee (old from Everlane – similar) | Jacket (medium) | Necklace (sold out Bexley 20″ – similar) | Bag | Sneakers
Shirt (medium) | Pants (pomona pants made by me with cotton/linen fabric – similar to buy) | Necklace (sold out Bexley 20″ – similar) | Bag | Sneakers
This is a new go-to outfit combo for me and it feels the most fresh. My love of wide leg pants started with the green pair in the photo above that I sewed. I think they’re a fun and flattering silhouette and a nice departure from my day-to-day jeans. I’ve been wearing pleated trousers here and there for the past couple of years. The first pair I had was high-waisted and cropped. I recently got the tan pair in the photos above— full length, wide leg. I LOVE them and I’m so excited to wear them this spring. I’m a fan of a statement pant with a simple tee, a great pair of shoes and a handbag.
5.) Long Sleeves + Shorts
Sweatshirt (medium) | Sunglasses | Shorts (medium) | Sneakers
This is a repeated outfit combo that I think I love because it can be worn so infrequently here in Nashville— ha! It’s pretty simple but slightly unexpected. Most people reach for a short sleeved shirt and pants for moderate weather, but this is the opposite of that. People probably go for the first outfit option because you can easily add and remove a top layer. For this shorts and long sleeve combo you’re just in it with the shorts come what may with the weather. This is living on the edge folks, and I’m here for it. haha.
6,) Spring Jacket + White Jeans + Flat Shoes
Shacket (small) | Tee (old from Everlane – similar) | Necklace (sold out Bexley 20″ – similar) | Bag (old from ABLE – similar, same style in another color) | Jeans (28 regular) | Shoes
Trench Coat (old from H&M – similar) | Shirt ( size 3 but I also have size 2 in this top and both work, I probably slightly prefer the small size – use code MICHELLETOMCZAK for $25 off your order) | Jeans (28 regular) | Bag (old from ABLE – similar that I own and love) | Sunglasses (same style in another color) | Earrings | Shoes
One category that I’ve really worked on and loved growing in my wardrobe is top layers/jackets. There are so many lovely styles of spring jackets currently available. Lately I’ve been loving them most with white jeans. Here are all of the styles I’ve been wearing: denim jacket, light quilted jacket (in olive green), light shacket, trench coat— all on repeat. I’m squeezing in wearing spring layers as long as I can. Top layers are just not even an option here in our summer heat.
7.) Rib-Knit Cardigan as a top + Jeans
Cardigan (small) | Necklace (sold out Bexley 20″ – similar) | Earrings | Jeans (I sized down one to 27) | Shoes (old from Madewell – similar – I have these in brown and I recommend sizing up 1/2)
While we’re on the topic of spring layers, this cardigan is one of my most worn pieces. I have it in a few colors and it’s so good for layering. However, most recently my favorite way to wear it is buttoned up and worn as a top. I always do a little front tuck with it into my favorite jeans. I love knits for their texture and coziness. I find this style to be simple yet beautiful— the neckline is flattering and the slightly balloon style sleeves makes it feel modern.
