There is nothing more inviting to me in a winter wardrobe than a cozy, textured sweater. The Aerie waffle sweater is just that, as well as being versatile and affordable!
I love how the waffle texture and drop sleeve detail add visual interest to this sweater. It is long enough to wear with leggings— the back is even a bit longer than the front. It can also be front tucked into high-waisted pants or easily layered under a top layer. For reference, I sized down one size from my normal size in the sweater and it is still nice and roomy. Here are four outfits with the Aerie waffle sweater!
Outfit #1: Crop-tucked Sweater + Belt + High-Waisted Jeans + Mules
Sweater | Belt | Jeans | Earrings | Shoes

I am not sure if “crop-tucked” is a word, but by that I mean you take the sweater and tuck it into the bottom of your bra. This gives you a cropped look to your top, hence the term “crop-tucked”. This helps show off your belt on high-waisted pants. In this look I am wearing some of my favorite jeans and cheetah print mules. I really like how the mules coordinate so well with the belt!
Outfit #2: Sweater + Vintage-like Jeans + Converse High-Tops
Sweater | Jeans ( this is the same style but mine are an older wash, also 100% cotton and I sized up one size) | Shoes
The easiest and most comfy, throw-on, everyday outfit. Every piece in this look is so comfortable. This outfit combination works well because the texture of the sweater, subtle rips in the jeans, and lived-in, classic, white hi-top sneakers all add visual interest. You could swap the jeans for leggings if that is more your vibe, and flat sneakers if you prefer them to high-tops.
Outfit #3: Front-tucked Sweater + Straight Cropped Pants + Printed Flats
Sweater | Bag (old from ABLE – similar) | Earrings | Pants | Shoes (similar)
So much texture in this and I am not mad about it one bit. The waffle sweater, corduroy pants, and snake print flats work so well together in this neutral palette. The cropped pants let the shoes shine, and the colors go from cool to warm and back to cool again— looks neat!
Outfit #4: Sweater layered under a Jacket + Jeans + Mules
Sweater | Jacket (mine is this jacket from a previous year) | Jeans (similar) | Earrings | Bag (old from ABLE – similar) | Shoes (run a bit small, size up 1/2 size)
This sweater layers well for cooler temps. I love it paired with my favorite jacket that I have had for years. It is not too cold here, so mules are a go for me— but if you live someone cooler you can swap for sneakers or boots!
Do you love cozy sweaters too? If so, which of the above looks would you be most likely to wear? I would love to hear from you in the comments below!
