I recently bought a black midi skirt and I have been able to make so many wearable outfits with it! I don’t wear skirts very often– but this skirt will be changing that. A black skirt is a classic wardrobe staple, but as a mama with young kids who works from home, I am most often wearing super casual outfits. I like this skirt because it can be dressed up, or it can be worn in a variety of ways that are casual. This means that it won’t be an item that sits in the back of my closet, collecting dust until that once or twice a year when I have something to be dressed up for. Here are the five ways I would wear this skirt with what I have in my closet, right now!
Crew Neck Sweatshirt + White Sneakers

Starting off with my favorite look! I have been wearing these white sneakers on repeat with every kind of outfit since I got them for my birthday in the spring. The belt bag gives me mom vibes mixed with ‘I was a kid in the 90s’. The pop of pink in the comfy sweatshirt makes me happy and adds contrast and therefore, extra visual interest to the outfit.

Button-Front Shirt + Crop Tank/Tank + Sandals
Button Front Shirt | Crop Tank | Skirt (similar, similar) | Sandals (old), Similar | Earrings
I have talked about this shirt a lot before, and mentioned that it is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. This summer, I have been loving wearing it open, as a top layer over a tank or a cropped tank. I finished this outfit with neutral, leather sandals to let the other pieces be the focal point of the outfit.
Blouse + Oxfords
Blouse | Skirt (similar, similar) | Oxfords | Earrings
If you read my last blog post, you might remember that puff sleeve blouses and oxfords are one of my go-to summer outfit combos this year. I am back with it again, but this time with a skirt. This is the most elevated look of the five that I am sharing. It is less of an everyday look for me, and is something I would wear to church or a daytime event.
Denim Jacket + Tank/Tee + Sandals
Denim Jacket | Tee | Skirt (similar, similar) | Sandals | Earrings
This is a super comfy combo. These sandals literally feel like slippers. This tee is so soft and vintage-feeling. It is the perfect thing to throw on for a long day when you need to be comfortable, but look put together.
Graphic Tee + Mules
Tee | Skirt (similar, similar) | Mules | Bag (sold out) | Earrings
This last look has another one of my favorite items in it, a graphic tee. If you know me, you know I will pair a graphic tee with just about anything! Graphic tees add more visual interest and contrast than plain tees. The graphic on this tee, along with it’s colors, give me that summery feeling! My light, woven, mules match the feeling of my top and help balance and complete the look.
That is it for my five ways to wear a black midi skirt this summer! Thanks for taking the time to read through my ideas. I hope this can be an inspiration point for you, that you can take into your own closet. Do you like to wear skirts? If so, would you wear any of these outfits?
