Summer is in full force and so are my warm weather outfits! As I put together my outfit each day, I have noticed that I am gravitating towards variations of the same handful of outfit combinations. I figured, if this works in my wardrobe it could work in yours too! So I am sharing my go-to summer outfit combos and some ideas of how you could modify them by substituting similar things you may already have.
GRAPHIC TEE + DENIM SHORTS + WHITE SNEAKERS
I love this basic combination so much. It is easy, comfortable, perfect in the heat, and most people have all of these items in their closet. I wear a variety of sneakers, but right now white sneakers are my favorite. If you don’t have plain white, any other pair of casual sneakers will work. This combo can translate into an endless amount of outfits. The denim shorts can be swapped for literally any other bottom piece: jeans, a skirt of most lengths (short, midi, fitted, flowy, printed, solid color, etc.), shorts of any kind and length (denim, printed, chino, pleated, etc.). If you prefer a plain t-shirt instead of a graphic t-shirt, that works too. Endless possibilities!
PUFF SLEEVE BLOUSE + SHORTS + MULES/OXFORDS
I have been really excited to wear puff-sleeve tops lately! Whether it’s a plain color or a print, it adds a lovely, feminine touch. This sleeve style helps an outfit feel a bit more elevated compared to wearing a basic tee. Because of the feminine look of puff sleeves, I usually tone them down with a more tailored bottom and shoes that bend towards a more masculine look. I do not generally use one style in an outfit, but instead I prefer to mix styles to create a more balanced look, with not too much of one thing. I personally think this makes outfits a bit more interesting. This can be achieved through varying style, color, fabric, texture, etc. If puff sleeves are not your preference, you could substitute any summery blouse, and if you do not prefer mules or oxfords, sandals would be a great replacement.
BUTTON FRONT SHIRT + TANK/CROP TANK + HIGH-WAISTED SHORTS
This has been my favorite, super summery combo. A white, short-sleeved, button front shirt worn as a top layer, open, over a cropped tank or regular tank. This button-front shirt is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. I pair the two tops with any high-waisted shorts. You could switch out the shorts for any other high-waisted bottom, like jeans, pants, or a skirt (high-waisted is the key when opting for a cropped tank).
FLOWY DRESS + WHITE SNEAKERS
This is the last summer outfit combo that I have been wearing a lot this season. I love the look of white sneakers with just about everything! This combo is so easy and comfortable, and I love how it looks. I personally tend towards flowy dresses, but the white sneakers work with any casual dress that is short or mid-length (wouldn’t work as well with a floor-length, maxi dress that covers over the shoes, you want it to be short enough to see your shoes and ankles).
These are my most-worn, go-to summer outfit combos. Do you wear any of these summer outfit combinations? If so, what is your favorite? What are some other outfit combinations that you have loved wearing this summer?
