Our calendar is filling in with holiday gatherings so naturally, I’ve been getting excited and putting together holiday party outfits. : ) Last year I wore a sequin romper to Shaun’s work Christmas party and needless to say, I was freezing. This year I wanted to find ways to be fancy and at least somewhat warm.
Matching sets have been happening for awhile now and so have a variety of pant shapes— wide leg, flare, baggy, fitted, etc, all widely available right now. I’m happy about this because I am a fan of variety!
Every year I see a lot of sequins and satin pieces around the holidays. I see velvet a bit too, but this year it seems there is more of it out there. I recently purchased this green, matching set (made of velvet) online. I was hoping it would work, but wasn’t totally sure— we shall see, is what I thought.
I got the set in the mail, tried it on, and was immediately obsessed. In fact, I hopped right on Instagram stories and showed it to you there. I styled it up a few ways for this blog post to show you some holiday outfits with velvet! I love that sets can be worn together or separately. I was able to make two more elevated looks and another that is more casual. Additionally, I recently got a blue velvet top that I’m sharing one outfit with as well. So here they are, my holiday outfits with velvet!
1.) Velvet Matching Set + Heels + Blazer
Shirt (tts) | Pants (tts) | Blazer (I sized down one size) | Necklace | Bag (old from ABLE – similar – code MICHELLETHOLIDAY40 for 40% off) | Shoes (sold out from H&M)
If you see something you like you can shop the item(s) and support my blog at the same time by purchasing through the affiliate links in this post.
Starting out with my favorite— I love the matching set together! I added a gold rope necklace, tan clutch, and tan sling-back heels to complete the look. I’m wearing a subtly red lip gloss for a touch of holiday that isn’t too in your face. The tan blazer works super well over the set if more warmth is needed. I did wonder about trying a more blingy shoe, so I’m keeping my eyes peeled but I might just end up sticking with what I have.
2.) Leather Jacket + White Button Up Shirt + Velvet Pants + Heels
Jacket (I sized up one size, code: MICHELLETHOLIDAY40 for 40% off) | Shirt (old – similar) | Herringbone Necklace | Rope Necklace | Pants (tts) | Shoes (whole sizes only so I sized up 1/2)
I love this outfit combination too. The leather jacket and untucked shirt together add a casual chic feeling to this look, while the necklaces, black clutch, black heels, and velvet pants are all elevated. You could also tuck in the shirt or swap for a tucked in, more feminine, white blouse to keep this outfit looking more elevated.
3.) Velvet Shirt + Jeans + Heels + Trench Coat
Shirt | Necklace (gifted) | Trench Coat (gifted, tts) | Jeans (I sized down two sizes) | Bag | Shoes (old from Target)
This outfit is pretty casual with just a hint of holiday. The velvet shirt is shaped like a t-shirt, so paired with jeans it looks rather casual— yet fun. I added a low black heel, black bag, and a trench coat. I think this outfit could be a bit more elevated and a bit more holiday if my hair was in a low bun and I added some red lipstick.
4.) One Sleeve Velvet Top + Baggy Jeans + Heels
Shirt (tts) | Jeans (tts for baggy) | Necklace | Bag (old from ABLE – similar – code MICHELLETHOLIDAY40 for 40% off) | Heels (sold out from H&M)
For me, this is a fun, night-out-with-the-girls holiday outfit. It’s not overly holiday-ish, but more elevated than I’d wear on a normal week. I love the color of the blue velvet contrasted against the light, baggy jeans. The tan accessories pull it all together.
Thanks for checking out my holiday outfits with velvet! Do you have holiday gathering you’ll be attending? If so, I’d love to know what you’re thinking about wearing!
